"Bring Your Own Device"

"Bring Your Own Device" is a practice which has become very common in may sectors of the job market (especially IT, where it was already used in 95% of departments as far back as 2013), and has started to infiltrate libraries as well (Ukpebor, 2014). Like the name implies, "Bring Your Own Device" refers to employees (and/or patrons) being allowed to use their personal devices with library services. For patrons, this generally just means the library providing Wi-Fi, but for staff this can mean full integration between library systems and tablets, smartphones, or similar (Ukpebor, 2014).
