BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)
This topic is very relevant in today's world as technology is nearly impossible to avoid. The exposure to technology in school places brings into question how we can benefit ourselves with our own devices in a school setting. This article titled “ Online Learning: What Every Parent Should Know” from the network for Public Education. This article brings in lots of questions parents could be asking themselves and districts concerning the integration of technology in the classroom. One question that stood out to me was, “Does online and blended learning enhance a student's learning ?”(Network for Public Education). This question stood out to me because of my own personal experiences. Working with children I can see how technology can be beneficial but also how technology can add an extra struggle for educators. As someone who notices how distracting technology can be to students along with teachers having to learn how to use these devices it adds a whole new issue to discuss. While technology can be a major benefit to the classroom I don’t know how helpful it truly is when you take into account distractions, software issues, the learning of these new websites and tools for staff and overall technology issues.
